NEUROAFFIRMING
CONSULTATION GROUP
Join Skylar Ibarra, LCSW and Jane Kosloff, LICSW, two neurodivergent clinicians, to deepen your confidence in supporting your ND clients using an eclectic toolbox rooted in the Neurodiversity Affirming Paradigm while also building community with other ND affirming clinicians.
This six-month group is designed for you to deepen your practice while building community with other ND affirming clinicians. The groups are capped at 6 participants, meaning that each participant has the opportunity to both share and learn within a supportive environment.
This year, we are offering two separate cohorts to better meet the needs of each clinician.
New to the Paradigm
This track will center those who are seeking support around getting started within the paradigm. Paradigm shift can be hard and each person deserves support as they navigate a new way of approaching clients an themselves.
Those suited to this track will likely:

Still feel unsure of when they are utilizing more pathology paradigm approach and when they are using a neuroaffirming approach

Do not have many identified ND clients

Are not marketing to ND clients specifically

Still have fundamental questions about the paradigm and its applicability to clinical practice

Advanced Practice
This track will center those who are already working within the paradigm and wanting to immerse themselves into the nuances of this approach. Creating a clinical community to support a continued deepening of paradigm shift and application is paramount to creating a sustained practice.
Those suited to this track will likely:

Have taken trainings, read books, had previous consultation, or done other things to create a foundational understanding of the Neurodiversity Affirming Paradigm

Have many ND identified clients

Markets to ND communities

Looking to have more complex conversations about the application of the paradigm that may need more exploration than what can be obtained in Facebook groups or other more casual consultation opportunities

All groups meet from 11am-12:30pm PST

Understanding the Neurodiversity Affirming Philosophy of Care

About
Throughout this training, participants will cultivate a neurodiversity-affirming lens and bolster confidence in supporting their neurodivergent (ND) clients. Starting with case conceptualization, the training will emphasize how intersectional oppression, including ableism, heightens client vulnerability to trauma and misdiagnosis. Additionally, participants will gain insights into ND-affirming treatment planning and receive an introduction to best practices for adapting therapeutic interventions for neurodivergent clients.
Facilitated by three neurodivergent clinicians, the training draws from the professional and lived experiences of the presenters, integrating emerging research and best practices. Upon completion of this training, participants will understand key aspects of the neurodiversity-affirming movement and possess actionable methods to integrate foundational principles for affirming care into their clinical settings.

EMDR
EMDR is an incredibly powerful tool that can bring forth such tremendous healing. It can also feel daunting, especially as you understand the nuances and adaptations needed for various populations and needs. As an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant-in-Training, I am here to guide and support you as you do the important work of guiding and supporting your clients. My areas of expertise include:

As a CIT, I am able to provide up to 15 hours of consultation hours towards EMDRIA Certification. I am unable to provide any of the required 10 hours to complete foundational training requirements.

NeuroAffirming Therapy
As an AuDHD clinician who primarily serves neurodivergent clients, I have spent the past three years devoting myself to learning the ins and outs of this important and emerging philosophy of care. I blend intersectionality, anti-oppressive practices, neuroqueering, and Critical Disability Theory to create an accessible pathway for each consultee to understand the nuances of what it means to be an ND Affirming therapist. With ND Affirming becoming such a buzz word in therapy spaces, I am passionate about ensuring that your practice aligns with the principles of the philosophy.
